Shane Crenshaw will be making his XFC debut when the promotion travels to Charlotte, North Carolina on August 3 for XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown. The North Carolina fighter is currently 3-0 as a pro and 12-1 overall, with his sole loss coming from his very first fight. Since that loss, Crenshaw has won two amateur Lightweight belts and has taken a fight in nearly every month of 2012.
Crenshaw has a very balanced approach to his fights, admitting that his game plan is normally to stay away from an opponent’s strengths and attack their weaknesses. Crenshaw has shown he has all the tools to be successful in MMA. He has the power to knock guys out, the skills to submit them, and has been to decision on 7 occasions. As he prepares to face Jason Hicks, Crenshaw will be tasked with coming up with a plan for an opponent with few weaknesses. Hicks has a strong Muay Thai background and in his first XFC outing knocked out his opponent in less than 2 minutes. Before turning pro, Hicks also submitted all 4 of his amateur opponents, which may force Crenshaw to approach this fight with a new plan.
XFC is known for giving tough match-ups and it is only fitting that in his XFC debut, Crenshaw may be facing the toughest opponent he’s seen this far in his career. He will have a couple advantages heading into the Charlotte fight; he has more experience that Hicks, and has been much more active leading up to his XFC debut. There are not many fighters in MMA who can maintain a fighting weight and avoid being injured while taking a fight once every month and that is something Crenshaw seems to have mastered. The momentum from 12 straight wins, including 5 straight in 2012 could be just the edge Crenshaw will need for another win. Fans watching around the globe, be sure to keep your eye on Shane Crenshaw.
XFC ventures to Charlotte for the first time and will feature some of the region’s top talents, in addition to Shane Crenshaw, when they visit the Grady Cole Center on August 3.
