Jimy "The Kid" Hettes Next for Aldo?

  • Jimy "The Kid" Hettes Next for Jose Aldo?

Jose Aldo defeated Chad "Money" Mendes with a brutal knee KO to remain the UFC Featherweight Champion.  So who's next for the champ? Mendes and Hettes were the only two undefeated featherweights on the UFC's roster.  Now Hettes is the only undefeated one remaining.  Jimy is 2-0 in the organization & Mendes fought for the title in his 3rd bout with the UFC. Although Mendes had 4 fights in the WEC before the merger it still makes you wonder when will Hettes get his shot at becoming world champion.

UFC should be announcing shortly what's next for the MMA Melee Poster Boy.  One would suggest at such a young age that first you groom Hettes, have him battle throughout the ranks polishing the 24 year old Swoyersville native for greatness. You can make a case that he's ready now, give him another top contender & winner takes on the champ, but you never know!

Names like the "Korean Zombie" Chang Sung Jung, Erik Kock or Dustin Poirier come to mind when you think of possible match-ups for "The Kid".  There is no doubt Hettes is amongst the top 10 in the world after his dominating performance over Nam Phan at UFC 141 in the most lopsided decision victory in UFC history.

The only time we have seen the undisputed champion look destructable was at UFC 129 when Mark Hominick had Aldo on his back and was able to put together some punishment with strikes on the ground.  The only problem is getting him there! Tonight Aldo stuffed all of Chad's takedowns and has defended 93 of 97 takedown attempts throughout his WEC & UFC career. We all know Jimy is on the cutting edge with his jiu-jitsu but if his last performance was any indication of what he's capable of, his judoka takedowns and precision ground & pound would suggest he has the complete set of tools needed to put the champ in a world of hurt.
