MMA Melee sat down with an incredible talent James Krause to congratulate him on his success and see what's next for this rising WEC star.

James born New Port News, VA is fighting out of Team Grindhouse MMA in Lees Summitt, MO.  Krause is a highly experienced mixed martial artist with an intimidating 30 fights under his belt, 28 victories 90% of them coming by way of submission.  Before professional bouts were sanctioned in Missouri, he collected a near perfect amatuer record of 18-1, sometimes fighting twice a night!  As a professional he carries an un-believable 10-1 record, his only loss was against top contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.  Next he will step into the cage against All-American wrestler Ricardo "The Bully" Lamas on a stacked WEC 44 card November 18th, so we asked him a little about his world class stardom.

· (MMA MELEE) When you first started training MMA what style did you focus on and did you ever imagine landing in an organization like the WEC?

· (James Krause) When I started training I focused mostly on BJJ.  No, I had 20 amatuer fights it was just a hobby of mine, something I liked to do, then one day it turned into a job and now hopefully it's turning into my career.

· (MMA MELEE) Over the past year you really stepped up your level of competition and proved you deserve to be at an elite level, how has your training changed and how would you rate the changes in yourself?

· ( James Krause) I really don't believe you can measure the changes that happen to a fighter.  I'm training full-time now, when training is your life and job you gain tons of experience.  Still everyday I learn something new in training and about myself.

· (MMA MELEE) What do you admire about other fighters?

· (James Krause) I like the determination in fighters like Thaigo Alves and Mike Swick.  They work hard for everything and are good at finishing fights which is always exciting.

· (MMA MELEE) Your first Pro Fight in front of a screaming crowd, what was that like to get hit and press forward for the win?

· (James Krause) It was a great experience, I proved to myself I can handle pressure.  I fought a really tough guy in Kevin Hengler who still to this day I am the only person to defeat him and we are close friends now so it's cool to look back and think of when we didn’t even know each other.

· (MMA MELEE) How did it feel to step onto the big stage and fight one of the WEC’s best fighters coming off of a title shot?

· (James Krause) It was great, I hope I showed the fans that didn’t know me that even though I lost, I will bring the fight to one of the best in the world and won't blink an eye.  I said it in my interview before the fight. "Somebody is getting dropped early" unfortunately it was me.

· (MMA MELEE) What have you changed the most since your bout with Cerrone?

· (James Krause) I would have to say my mental game more than anything else and to stay calm under pressure.  Also  I worked on some bad habits that were in my boxing.

· (MMA MELEE) Your next opponent, how do your styles match up and how do you see this fight going?

· (James Krause) I have fought great wrestlers before and I usually matchup well with them. I'm pretty open to where the fight goes, I will be comfortable with my reach with we're standing and I'm used to working off my back so I'll let him pick.

· (MMA MELEE) What has motivated you to keep pressing forward in your fighting career and life in general?

· (James Krause) The career itself is satisfying.  I just want the American dream lifestyle, making my own hours, decent money, the ability to take care of people, etc.  It's right there in front of me. It’s so easy to lose site of what you’re goal is, so I have to stay focused and keep my eye on the prize.

· (MMA MELEE) What’s your next step?

· (James Krause) Keep training hard.  Focus... It’s very important to win this next fight so right now that’s all thats on my mind. I would like to thank some of my training partners Eric "The Machine" Marriott, Aaron Derrow, Larry Reyes, Rob Kimmons, Jermaine Andres MMA and my fans thanks for everything.
